Dear Sir,

My name is Timothy J Ratcliffe and I work as a Firefighter/Paramedic for the Villages Department of Public Safety. I recently had the opportunity to attend the conference at the Rosen Centre Hotel entitled: 2010 International Disaster Management. To be very honest this was the first fire/medical/disaster conference that I’ve ever attended and I was very pleasantly surprised. In my opinion, the conference was extremely well done! I’m so grateful that I was able to attend.

I expected that when attending the conference I would find out just how little I knew. My expectations were not only met but were far exceeded. However, it was a wonderful learning tool that I will be able to keep with me. I think my favorite presentations were from Miami/Task Force 2 and the Pediatrician. All were superb, but these two were phenomenal. I have already begun to pull out the Broselow Tape every shift at work, and am also conducting pediatric scenarios with my crew members. Also, I have a great interest in joining a team that deploys in time of disaster specifically on a national and international level. What are the possibilities of finding and joining such a team?

In conclusion, Mr. Todaro, I wanted to say thank you for making it possible for me and people like myself to attend such a wonderful, enriching, and enlightening conference. My hope is that this conference will continue annually and that I will be able to attend and enhance my skills and knowledge base consequently.

Have a great day.

Sincerely,
Timothy J Ratcliffe
FF/PM – VDPS.

On behalf of the South Trail Fire Protection and Rescue Service District, I would like to express our appreciation for the recent hands-on EMS training provided by the State Department of Health via the
EMLRC.

The core delivery was excellent! Many of our members commented on how unique and effective it was to be submersed in the real-world environment with state-of-the-art simulation technology.

Additionally, working with Eric in the field and Jennifer in the office made this project seamless on our end. Their level of professionalism and attention to detail was crucial to the success of this event.

Thank you for providing this free training to our agency. Without this grant funding, we would struggle to address these topics as effectively as we were able to in this case.

Again, thank you for affording us the opportunity to provide this valuable training to our emergency responders.

Sincerely,
Chief William J. Lombardo

I was privileged to attend the very informative Disaster Management Conference that was held in February. The information was well presented, current, and appreciated. I am the EMS Coordinator for Saint Vincent Health Center in Erie, Pa. We are currently attempting to get all of our ducks in a row with regards to Disaster Preparedness and this conference was exactly what we were looking for, we are already planning to attend next year. You all did a wonderful job.

I hope the weather is treating you well in Florida. As usual it is cold any rainy here in Pa.

Thanks again,
Betty Lou Schau, NREMT-P

Recently Kissimmee Fire Department was fortunate to have the EMLRC Simulation vehicle respond for a week of training on pandemic flu and agents of WMD. The instructor, Jim Wilson, was very knowledgeable in both subjects and conveyed a sense of caring for the participating crews. Jim's candor, great sense of humor and ability to "simulate multiple personalities" in character contributed to the learning experience and made this training fun for the crews. "I can't tell you enough how much I appreciated this training and would like to see more of it" commented one paramedic. His thoughts were echoed by more than a few of our crew members. Thanks to the EMLRC for this opportunity.

Sincerely,
Lt. Joan K. Robinson

Thank you so much for including Rural Metro in your Mobile Simulation Lab schedule.

I personally observed some of our crew as they were put through the scenarios and I can tell you that their experience could not be replicated in the classroom. The crew I spoke with were truly impressed and walked away with a number of great learning points.

When seconds matter, finely tuned and well-practiced skills are essential. Continuous training is key to maintaining those skills and I appreciate the EMLRC supplementing our efforts.

Sincerely,
Roger Duryea

On behalf of the Miami Beach Fire Department, Rescue Division Chief Chris Parrino and I wish to thank you all for your generous support of EMS Training by providing Scholarships to three of our Paramedics. They attended the Prehospital Pediatric Education Symposium 2007, in Orlando on November 27th & 28th.

The feedback from the 3 Paramedics was the quality of the material was excellent, state of the art, and pertinent to what they do in the field.

EMLRC is dedicated to excellence in its Educational programs for EMS and we are truly grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in this quality program.

I just wanted to thank the South Florida Healthcare Foundation for the opportunity to attend this year’s Prehospital Pediatric Education Symposium in Orlando. As a career Firefighter-Paramedic with the Miami Beach Fire Department and a registered nurse for over 15 years, I found the selected speakers both knowledgeable and engaging. Nearly every lecture was relevant to the prehospital and emergent hospital care settings. The experience refreshed and broadened my knowledge of pediatric emergencies. I look forward to applying that knowledge as a health care provider in the clinical care setting.

I also wanted to add that Delaina Bomhoff and her colleagues from the Emergency Medicine Learning and Resource Center were helpful every step of the way. The facility and hotel accommodations were also quite comfortable. I would encourage any of my coworkers to attend the same seminar if offered again in the future.

Sincerely,
Steven M. Phillips

I will like to thank you on behalf of the Miami Beach Fire Rescue Department for the opportunity to participate in this seminar. I learned many new ways to improve my skills. This seminar will make me a better Paramedic in the future when dealing with pediatric patients. I will recommend this class to anyone in the future in order to improve their skills.

Sincerely,

This letter is written to thank you and the Emergency Medicine Learning & Resource Center (EMLRC) very much for providing education to two of our Paramedics at the recent Pediatric Symposium.

Both of these personnel cannot stop talking about the program and the opportunity to learn from Physicians, who are leaders in pediatric pre-hospital care and treatment. I can assure you that these paramedics will capitalize on this educational opportunity and I am certain it will have a great impact in our community. The fact that the program was funded by the EMLRC was significant, as the current tax crisis caused us to eliminate our travel budget for this and future years. We hope that you can keep us in mind for future opportunities like this one, which will improve on our ability to deliver the best possible emergency medical care.

In closing, I again thank yourself and the EMLRC staff for providing this opportunity and helping us to help our community.

Sincerely,
Peter T. Bergel

Fire Chief
