Recently Kissimmee
Fire Department was
fortunate to have
the EMLRC Simulation
vehicle respond for
a week of training
on pandemic flu and
agents of WMD. The
instructor, Jim
Wilson, was very
knowledgeable in
both subjects and
conveyed a sense of
caring for the
participating crews.
Jim's candor, great
sense of humor and
ability to "simulate
multiple
personalities" in
character
contributed to the
learning experience
and made this
training fun for the
crews. "I can't tell
you enough how much
I appreciated this
training and would
like to see more of
it" commented one
paramedic. His
thoughts were echoed
by more than a few
of our crew members.
Thanks to the EMLRC
for this
opportunity.
Sincerely,
Lt. Joan K.
Robinson

Thank you so much
for including Rural
Metro in your Mobile
Simulation Lab
schedule.
I personally
observed some of our
crew as they were
put through the
scenarios and I can
tell you that their
experience could not
be replicated in the
classroom. The crew
I spoke with were
truly impressed and
walked away with a
number of great
learning points.
When seconds matter,
finely tuned and
well-practiced
skills are
essential.
Continuous training
is key to
maintaining those
skills and I
appreciate the EMLRC
supplementing our
efforts.
Sincerely,
Roger Duryea

On behalf of the
Miami Beach Fire
Department, Rescue
Division Chief Chris
Parrino and I wish
to thank you all for
your generous
support of EMS
Training by
providing
Scholarships to
three of our
Paramedics. They
attended the
Prehospital
Pediatric Education
Symposium 2007, in
Orlando on November
27th & 28th.
The feedback from
the 3 Paramedics was
the quality of the
material was
excellent, state of
the art, and
pertinent to what
they do in the
field.
EMLRC is dedicated
to excellence in its
Educational programs
for EMS and we are
truly grateful to
have had the
opportunity to
participate in this
quality program.
Sincerely,

I just wanted to
thank the South
Florida Healthcare
Foundation for the
opportunity to
attend this year’s
Prehospital
Pediatric Education
Symposium in
Orlando. As a career
Firefighter-Paramedic
with the Miami Beach
Fire Department and
a registered nurse
for over 15 years, I
found the selected
speakers both
knowledgeable and
engaging. Nearly
every lecture was
relevant to the
prehospital and
emergent hospital
care settings. The
experience refreshed
and broadened my
knowledge of
pediatric
emergencies. I look
forward to applying
that knowledge as a
health care provider
in the clinical care
setting.
I
also wanted to add
that Delaina Bomhoff
and her colleagues
from the Emergency
Medicine Learning
and Resource Center
were helpful every
step of the way. The
facility and hotel
accommodations were
also quite
comfortable. I would
encourage any of my
coworkers to attend
the same seminar if
offered again in the
future.
Sincerely,
Steven M.

you on behalf of the
Miami Beach Fire
Rescue Department
for the opportunity
to participate in
this seminar. I
learned many new
ways to improve my
skills. This seminar
will make me a
better Paramedic in
the future when
dealing with
pediatric patients.
I will recommend
this class to anyone
in the future in
order to improve
their skills.
Sincerely,

This letter is written to thank you and the Emergency
Medicine Learning & Resource Center (EMLRC) very much
for providing education to two of our Paramedics at the
recent Pediatric Symposium.
Both of these personnel cannot stop talking about the
program and the opportunity to learn from Physicians,
who are leaders in pediatric pre-hospital care and
treatment. I can assure you that these paramedics will
capitalize on this educational opportunity and I am
certain it will have a great impact in our community.
The fact that the program was funded by the EMLRC was
significant, as the current tax crisis caused us to
eliminate our travel budget for this and future years.
We hope that you can keep us in mind for future
opportunities like this one, which will improve on our
ability to deliver the best possible emergency medical
care.
In closing, I again thank yourself and the EMLRC staff
for providing this opportunity and helping us to help
our community.
Sincerely,
Peter T. Bergel
