David
C. Seaberg, MD, FACEP has been elected to the
American College
of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Board of Directors.
ACEP is the nation’s top specialty society for emergency
physicians, serving a membership of more than 23,000. Seaberg, who
currently serves on the EMLRC Board of Directors and is a past
president (2002-2003) of the Florida College of Emergency
Physicians (FCEP), was chosen in a vote of ACEP councilors from
across the country. He began serving his three-year term on
Thursday, Sept. 29. Seaberg serves as professor and associate
chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University
of Florida, College of Medicine. He is also Chief of Emergency
Services at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida,
Gainesville.
“The support of the Florida College membership, board of directors
and councilors has provided me the avenue to seek this leadership
position,” said Seaberg. “I am very proud to be on the ACEP board of
directors and I will continue to serve the Florida College through
my position on the ACEP board.”
Seaberg has been an outstanding advocate for emergency medicine in
Florida, previously serving on the FCEP Board of Directors, as well
as being an active current member of the College’s Governmental
Affairs, Medical Economics and Professional Development committees.
In addition to sitting on the board of directors for the EMLRC,
Seaberg is co-chair of EMRLC’s Education Committee. A 1987 graduate
of the University of Minnesota School of Medicine, Seaberg received
his emergency medicine residency training at the University of
Pittsburgh. He has been honored with the 2002 Florida College of
Emergency Physicians Member of the Year Award, the 1999 American
College of Emergency Physicians National Faculty Teaching Award and
the 2005 University of Florida Exemplary Teaching Award.
The
Florida College of Emergency Physicians (FCEP)
represents more than 1,100 emergency physicians in the state of
Florida. FCEP members represent the health care safety net of
Florida’s residents and visitors. More than seven million patients
seek care annually in Florida emergency departments. FCEP was
founded on Oct. 15, 1971 and is headquartered in Orlando.
The Emergency Medicine
Learning & Resource Center (EMLRC) is a nonprofit
organization dedicated to promoting and advancing emergency
medicine, disaster management, prehospital emergency care and public
health through the provision of educational and research programs.
