General
Information
The Emergency Medicine Learning &
Resource Center (EMLRC) in cooperation with
NAEMSE and
FAEMSE proudly present
the EMS Educator Course, which has been designed and
developed by the same individuals who produced the DOT/NHTSA 2002
National Guidelines for Educating EMS Instructors. The NAEMSE
Educator Course represents the didactic component and practical
application of the beginning education process to become an EMS
instructor.
The content of this course aligns the NAEMSE developed modules with
the curriculum objectives of the 2002 National Guidelines, and has
been designed to provide a basic introduction of concepts for the
beginning EMS educator.
NAEMSE recognizes that the development of a professional EMS
educator requires many components including: formalized education in
all aspects of the educational process, practical experience in
teaching and mentoring by other members of the educational team to
foster personal growth and development. This course DOES NOT include
all these components, only the beginning steps of the process.
Enrollment will be limited to 100 participants. Individuals who
attend the entire course and pass the post test will receive a
Certificate of Course Completion from NAEMSE. Continuing education
hours have been applied for through NAEMSE, which is accredited by
the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical
Services (CECBEMS).
Goals of the Course
- To assist attendees in achieving the entry-level
portions of the DOT/NHTSA 2002 Guidelines for
Educating the EMS Instructor (To attain this goal
students are required to complete selected readings
on the NAEMSE website prior to attending the actual
course.)
- To provide tools and resources to attendees who
want to teach to the best of their potential.
- To provide foundational information on the teaching
process.
- To provide opportunities for networking and
interpersonal growth.
Summative Evaluation of the Course
- A portion of the course will be conducted online and
will include educational material
pertinent to the successful completion of the course.
- Participants will complete a written post test which
includes information from the
NAEMSE Educator Course web site.
- Participants will be assigned to a team to complete a
practical exercise that applies
the principles of this course.
Course Cost
- $400 for NAEMSE and/or
