The Emergency Medicine Learning &
Resource Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting public
health through the advancement of Emergency Medicine, Disaster Management
and Pre-Hospital emergency care through the provision of educational and
research programs.

Emergency medicine is the only field of medicine
that requires the participation of a complete team. The emergency care
system is comprised of 911 Dispatchers, EMTs, Paramedics, Emergency Nurses,
Emergency Physicians and Trauma Specialists. The knowledge base for
emergency treatment changes every seven years, so continuing education is
vitally important in educating emergency teams. As advances in emergency
medicine are introduced, the Emergency Medicine Learning & Resource Center
(EMLRC) plays a major role in educating our emergency responders to be
successful in the field as well as in the Emergency Department.

The Emergency Medicine Learning & Resource Center
(EMLRC):
• is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and advancing
emergency
medicine;
• provides lifesaving education to lifesavers through educational and
research
programs in emergency medicine, • disaster management, pre-hospital
emergency
care, and public health;
• is currently providing emergency medicine/services education through six
national
conferences that are held in Florida;
• is currently providing specialized emergency medicine education through
its Mobile
Simulation Lab;
• in concert with the UCF Medical School, Burnham Institute and VA Hospital,
complements Central Florida’s new medical cluster;
• will build its new 35,000 square foot facility on five acres of land in
Orlando’s
promised Southport complex near Orlando International Airport;
• is in the process of raising $6 million to construct the new EMLRC
facility.

Emergency medicine is the only field of medicine
that requires the participation of a complete lifesaving team. It starts
with the 911 dispatchers and continues on with the knowledge base of EMTs,
Paramedics, Emergency
Nurses, Emergency Physicians and Trauma Specialists. As the best practices
of emergency medicine continue
to evolve, the EMLRC plays a major role in educating the entire emergency
team.
The EMLRC is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and advancing
emergency medicine. It provides lifesaving education to lifesavers through
educational and research programs in emergency medicine, disaster
management, pre-hospital emergency care, and public health. As one of the
nation’s select accredited educational centers, the EMLRC partners closely
with individuals, businesses, governments, and universities to develop and
deliver lifesaving medical education.
To meet the growing needs of the 21st century, more must be done to keep our
communities safe, our families protected, and our loved ones healthy. To
make valuable lifesaving skills accessible to everyone, the EMLRC
needs your support in developing a world-class educational center.
The EMLRC is needed now more than ever because you never know when you or a
loved one will face a life-threatening emergency.

The new Center allows for more space to serve more
emergency care providers right at its own centralized location thereby
avoiding cumbersome and often costly off-site locations.
For example:
• Conferences for emergency physicians, nurses, firefighters, paramedics,
and EMTs;
• On-site educational courses and annual certification programs in large and
small
group settings as well as the use of simulation equipment;
• Research through “think tank” activities that enhance advanced
instructional
curriculums;
• The Mobile Simulation Lab that was made possible in 2004 from a grant from
the
state of Florida that provides hands-on education for life-like
situations;
• Joint Symposiums with the new University of Central Florida Medical
School, Burnham
Institute, the Florida Department of Health, Florida’s major hospitals
and local
community colleges that offer degrees in emergency education;
• Visitations and tours for high school and college students interested in
majoring in
emergency medicine or other degree programs involving emergency medical
care;
• A museum that “shows and tells” the evolution and progress of emergency
medicine
since its official inception in Roanoke, Virginia when Julian Stanley
Wise and nine
other men founded the first independent volunteer rescue squad.
When completed Central Florida will become one of the nation's "go to"
centers for the continuum of medical education.
