Given Florida’s booming
population and the fact that one in three Floridians will require emergency
care each year, the EMLRC is poised to handle the increased demand for more
lifesavers. In late 2006,
Dr. John C. Hitt, University of Central Florida President, was
one of those three.
After his successful recovery he said:
“Without the well-trained emergency medical team that responded to my heart
attack, I wouldn’t be here today.”

“There
are no other places like this. We train all the people on the first
responder team. Individual brilliance won’t save your life. It’s the
brilliance of the team – everyone has their part to play.”
Richard Slevinski, MD, FACEP
EMLRC President and an Emergency Room Physician

The
new EMLRC center, combined with the planned University of Central Florida
medical school and the Burnham Institute for Medical Research’s Florida
satellite lab, “enhances our region as a medical destination.”
